Our dedicated team of students is always on the ball, utilising their unique skills and passion to move the work of our UNICEF Chapter forward. We’re always pushing ourselves to plan the most interesting and exciting event for our members while helping children all around the world. Meet some of our incredible leaders below.
Natalie Ito
President
Natalie is a Senior in the College of Arts and Science majoring in Neuroscience. Her commitment to UNICEF dates back to third grade when she was searching for an organization to support, and gave a speech about its causes to her class. She has lived in Japan, Canada, and the U.S., and was excited to be involved in the UNICEF club when she came to NYU. She hopes to help ensure children across the world have access to fundamental rights including education, healthcare, safety, and opportunities that would help them to thrive and achieve their dreams. In her free time, she likes exploring new cafes and going on walks. She is also interested in learning languages and is currently working on learning Mandarin Chinese!
Polina Tyurikova
Vice-President
Polina is a Senior in College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Business Studies. Born in Russia, but raised in Switzerland, she has traveled the world. Her commitment to UNICEF started her first-year of college as a part of the UNICEF club. When she came to NYU she was so happy to be able to join the E-board and make new friends through the club, while making an impact. Polina is currently NYU Admissions Ambassador and an Equestrian Athlete, but she always finds time to keep up to date with Netflix shows, try new Matcha places around the city and go to art galleries! New matcha places recommendations are always welcomed.
Sungbin Cho
Event Coordinator
Sungbin is a senior at CAS majoring in Economics with a minor in Public Policy Analysis. Being involved in service since middle school, Sungbin’s commitment to UNICEF stems from wanting to help children facing inequity and spread awareness to make a better future. He is looking forward to making a positive impact on the community as UNICEF@NYU organizes more exciting events in the future! In his free time, Sungbin likes to explore the city and play soccer!
Shriya Mareedu
Secretary
Shriya is a Junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Child Development and Social Intervention. Her commitment to UNICEF stems from a love for children and desire to protect their rights and advocate for their survival and development. She strives to establish international standards of behavior towards children and make healthcare, food, and housing accessible to children across the globe. Shriya recently began working as a Student Intern at NYU Langone, and she is also the Director of Clinical Operations of NYU’s American Medical Student Association. She loves going for walks around the city and trying new places to eat, and waving to babies along the way!
Laura Teofilo
Marketing Co - Director
Laura is a Freshman at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She is an intended Media, Culture, and Communication major, with interests in the business of entertainment, media, and technology, and public policy and management. Aside from academics, Laura loves playing tennis and discovering local coffee shops as well as dog walks. Laura, who is Brazilian-American, also enjoys learning about new cultures as she works on proficiently speaking her fourth language, French. She is looking forward to growing friendships with other members of the club as UNICEF@NYU continues to plan exciting events for the community.
Jenny Lee
Marketing Co - Director
Jenny is a Sophomore majoring in Media, Culture, and Communication at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, with a passion in International Relations. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she has diverse educational experiences in both the US and Korea. Having attended schools in Korea, California, Connecticut, and presently in NYC, she cultivated a deep appreciation for the richness of global cultures and communities. Jenny loves city exploration, running, and food blogging! Going forward, Jenny hopes to improve children’s lives worldwide and raise awareness through her role as marketing co-head at UNICEF at NYU.
Dhruvi Patel
Service Coordinator
Dhruvi is a Senior in the College of Arts and Sciences at NYU, majoring in neural science with a minor in psychology and on the pre-medical track. She has been part of UNICEF@NYU since her freshman year and her interest in the organization’s vital mission towards improving the welfare of children worldwide has only escalated over the years. She hopes to continue volunteering with UNICEF beyond NYU to help raise awareness and support UNICEF’s cause in improving the education and opportunities available to children in need. In her free time, Dhruvi enjoys playing tennis with friends and exploring what NYC has to offer.
Tami Dong
Treasurer
Tami is a sophomore at the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Economics. Her commitment to UNICEF stems from a deep concern for improving children's welfare and rights. Since high school, she has been actively involved in various volunteer services and community activities, focusing on children's development. In her free time, Tami enjoys walking, hiking, and trying new restaurants with friends.
